Throughout the summer, your pool may lose a lot of water largely due to evaporation and normal wear and tear, such as swimming, splashing and exiting the pool. If you use your pool regularly, you are more likely to notice a dip in the water level than if you only use it on occasion.
A good way to remember to check the water level in your pool is to do so each time you remove debris with your pool net throughout the week. Ideally, you should keep your swimming pool water level between one third and one half of the way up the opening of the skimmer. This is the level at which swimming pool skimmers operate most efficiently.
It is important to ensure that the water level doesn’t fall below the level of the skimmer, otherwise the pump could be damaged. If the water is low, you can use a garden hose to bring it up to safe levels.
If you have any questions about how to properly maintain the water level in your pool, one of our experienced technicians would be happy to help. Our technicians have years of training and experience when it comes to pool maintenance.
